Rector’s Message
Professor Dr Farhan Saeed Vakani

It is both an honour and a responsibility for me to join the Sindh Institute of Medical Sciences (SIMS) as Rector—an institution under the flagship of SIUT built on the remarkable legacy of service and educational excellence founded by Professor Dr Adeeb ul Hassan Rizvi. What makes this institution truly unique is not only its healthcare excellence, but its commitment to providing free, high-quality education with a strong ethos of dignity, equity, and service. This is rare—not just in Pakistan, but globally. As I step into this role, my focus is very clear.
First, we will strengthen what we already do well—particularly our flagship programs in medical technology and nursing, and postgraduate programs and fellowships—by enhancing their academic quality, student experience, and faculty support. Second, we will build strong academic systems— through local and international accreditation, structured curricula, integration of disciplines, meaningful assessment, and faculty development initiatives—so that excellence is not dependent on individuals, but embedded within the institution.
Third, we will create opportunities for academic growth, especially by integrating research and CME into our programs and positioning SIMS as a center of applied, impactful learning aligned with real healthcare needs. At the heart of all of this is a simple principle:
We are here to serve and grow collectively—through education, through compassion, and through excellence.
I strongly believe that institutions grow not through rapid change, but through thoughtful, inclusive perspectives. I look forward to working closely with SIMS as one family for better performance and to take SIMS forward in a way that is both sustainable and meaningful.
